15-Day Kenya & Tanzania Combo Safari

On arrival in Nairobi you are met by our driver and transferred to your hotel for dinner and overnight — a comfortable first night before the safari begins in earnest.

Descend to the floor of the Great Rift Valley, pausing at the viewpoint to take in its vast, sun-struck sweep. Continue to the Masai Mara — perhaps the only region left in Kenya where wildlife exists in the super-abundance of a century ago. Lunch at your camp, then a late-afternoon game drive until sunset.

A whole day in Kenya's most celebrated sanctuary, hunting the Big Five with your camera — lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant. Game drives are flexible: head out with picnic boxes for the full day, or split into early-morning and late-afternoon drives. A visit to a local Maasai village is available at extra cost.

Drive to Lake Naivasha, a freshwater Rift Valley lake where giraffe wander among the acacias, buffalo wallow in the swamps and a large hippo population dozes the day away in the shallows — over 450 bird species have been recorded here. After lunch at the lodge, an afternoon boat ride brings the waterlife close.

South to Amboseli National Park, crowned by Mount Kilimanjaro — one of the best places in Africa to watch large elephant herds up close. Five habitats range from the dried bed of Lake Amboseli to sulphur-spring wetlands, savannah and woodland. An evening game drive rolls en route to your lodge.

A full extra day in Amboseli with morning and afternoon game drives — time to linger with the elephants beneath the most famous silhouette in Africa, and to catch Kilimanjaro's summit when the clouds lift at dawn and dusk.

An early start to the Namanga border (arriving 08:30–09:00) for immigration and a switch to your Tanzanian crew and custom 4x4. Drive on to Lake Manyara National Park for an afternoon game drive with packed lunch beneath the Rift wall, then to your lodge for check-in.

Drive towards the endless plains of the Serengeti with packed lunch, calling at a Maasai cultural village en route. The afternoon game drive carries you through the cat's paradise of the central Serengeti until you reach camp at dusk.

Morning game drive, lunch at camp, and an afternoon drive until late evening. Or rise before dawn for the optional balloon safari — roughly one hour and twenty minutes drifting over the waking plains, available at additional cost.

A full day's game drive with packed lunch. The Serengeti is renowned for its wealth of leopards, lions and cheetahs; its vast reaches hide endangered black rhino and shelter everything from 500 bird varieties to a hundred kinds of dung beetle. Game-viewing until late evening, then bonfire, dinner and overnight.

Depart with a packed lunch for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying guided game drives en route through the wildlife of both ecosystems. Arrive in the late evening at your lodge on the crater rim for check-in, dinner and overnight.

Descend at first light onto the crater floor — literally a caldera — for a half-day tour with packed breakfast among the densest concentration of wildlife in Africa. In the late noon, drive to Karatu for lunch at Acacia Farm Lodge; optional lodge activities include a coffee-plantation tour.

Journey towards Tarangire National Park, stopping at the Africana Gallery near Lake Manyara and joining a cultural tour of Mto wa Mbu village with a traditional local lunch. In the afternoon, continue into Tarangire with a game drive on the way to your lodge.

A morning game drive among Tarangire's great elephant herds and ancient baobabs, a hot lunch at the lodge, then back into the park until late evening — the dry-season swamps here draw a remarkable density of game.

Drive back to Arusha with packed lunch, then on to the Namanga border (±15:00) to rejoin your Kenyan guide and vehicle for the journey onward. Alternatively: fly from Arusha to Zanzibar for a beach extension, or transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home.
